Benjamin R. Emery, B.S., MPhil Andrology Lab Supervisor
Ben grew up in Wyoming. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of Utah in 1998, and a Master’s of Physiology Degree in 2008 at the University of Utah School of Medicine. Ben joined our team as a volunteer research assistant in 1996. He joined our team full time in 1997.

Deborah Cartmill Foster, M.S., T.S.
Debbie was born in Tucson, Arizona and lived in California and various parts of Idaho as well. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from Brigham Young University in 1987. She earned her Master’s degree from BYU in 1991. She joined our team in May of 1991 as a laboratory technician. She has since worked her way through the ranks to the position of Andrology Program Manager.

Jamie Lynn Heath, Lead Medical Assistant
Jamie was born and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah. She received her MA degree from The Bryman School in 1996. She joined our team in April of 1996. Jamie is a valuable part of our IVF team as well as an extraordinary phlebotomist and our customer service specialist. |

Valerie Fisher, Medical Assistant
Valerie was born and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah. She joined our Andrology team as a medical assistant after completing her training at Mountain West College and an externship in family practice medicine at St. Mark's Hospital in Salt Lake City. She enjoys spending her free time with her children. They all love being outdoors and playing in the back country. |

Aaron Wilcox, B.S., Embryologist
Aaron is the son of a career military man so he grew up all over the world. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology from Brigham Young University in December of 1987. He joined our team in July of 1988. He has worked as a laboratory technician and as the Andrology laboratory supervisor. He is now our lead embryologist. His specialties are in the area of fluorescent in situ hybridization (FISH) and preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD). |

Tony Peterson, B.S., Embryologist
Tony was born and raised in Bountiful, Utah. He has returned to Utah after completing a B.S. degree in Biology from Iowa State University where he also worked in a pathology lab conducting research protocols and clinical diagnostic tests on mycoplasma bacteria. Tony joined the Andrology team as an embryologist in 2005. |

Ogi Badamjav, B.S., Laboratory Technician
Ogi was born in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, and attended Brigham Young University. He graduated from BYU with a B.S. in Microbiology. At BYU, Ogi worked in Virology and chemical engineering laboratories researching the elimination of scrapie prion infectivity in vitro and using low frequency ultrasound to release cancer drugs. He joined our team in the spring of 2007. Ogi loves playing soccer, mountain biking and fishing.

Jeanine Griffin, Research Study Coordinator
Jeanine grew up in Helper, Utah. She attended Utah State University. Jeanine has been employed at the University of Utah since 1970. She has worked with Dr. William O’dell from 1980-2000 developing assays for pituitary hormones, and doing extensive work in protein chemistry. Jeanine also has a background in genetics. Jeanine joined our research team in January of 2001. |

Laszlo Nanassy, Ph.D. Post-Doctoral Fellow
Laszlo was born and raised in Debrecen, Hungary. He received his MS in Animal Science at the University of West Hungary and recently graduated as a PhD from the University of Debrecen, Hungary. Laszlo evaluated the efficiency of different parthenogenetic activation methods in pig by the dynamics of cell-cycle related protein kinases. He joined the Andrology team in September 2007 as a post-doctoral fellow.

KI Aston, Ph.D. Post-Doctoral Fellow
Ki grew up in Twin Falls, Idaho. He received a BA in Biology from Utah State University in 2000 and recently completed his PhD in Reproductive Biology, also at Utah State University. For his graduate work, Ki utilized somatic cell nuclear transfer to investigate nuclear reprogramming in early embryo development. He joined the Andrology team in September 2007 as a post-doctoral fellow. In his free time Ki enjoys spending time with his family and doing almost anything outdoors.

Tim Jenkins, B.S., Graduate Student
Tim was raised in Littleton, CO. He graduated from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physiology and Developmental Biology in April 2008. He joined the Andrology team in April of 2009 as a graduate student and lab technician. When he gets free time he can be found enjoying his family or fly fishing on the many rivers and lakes here in Utah.

Matthew Sanderson, B.S., Graduate Student
Matt was raised in Lehi, Utah. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology from Southern Utah University in 2000. He joined our team shortly after graduation. Matt is a laboratory technician and a full time graduate student. |

Sue Hammoud, B.S. Graduate Student
Sue was born and raised in Dearborn, Michigan. She then moved on to receive her B.S. in Biology from Wayne State University in 2004. Shortly thereafter she began work on a Ph.D. at Wayne State, but then transferred to the University of Utah to continue her studies and join our Andrology team. She enjoys reading, shopping and has found a new hobby in tennis. |

Lori Barnard, M.S., Administrative Assistant
Originally from North Central Kansas, Lori completed her education in Communication at Fort Hays State University and moved to Utah in1988. Lori joined the Andrology team in 2005 to provide support to Dr. Carrell and the staff, coordinate grant applications, and schedule consult appointments. |
